With more than half a century of activities, the Harbor of Fortaleza, also known as Harbor of Mucuripe, is one of the most important and strategic maritime terminals of the country. Its privileged location (on the bay of Mucuripe, in Fortaleza, Ceará), keeps it near the North American and European markets, allowing it to meet the demand of navigation companies with regular lines with destiny to harbors of the United States, Canada, Central America, Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Africa and countries from the Mercosul, as well as itineraries to other Brazilian harbors through cabotage navigation.

Its range of influence comprises the States of Ceará, Piauí, Maranhão, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco and Paraíba, and also to the North, Central West and to the Valley of São Francisco. In the Harbor of Mucuripe there is one of the major wheat poles of the country and a versatile infrastructure which allows the movement of different types of goods, divided by solid storehouses (grains, cereals etc), liquid storehouses (petroleum derived), general cargo and in containers. An average of 1500 people work on the Harbor. Cashew nuts, carnaubas wax, metal, fabric, fruit, wheat, lubricants, fuels, malt and petroleum derived are among the main products that come and go to the Harbor.
